24th Delhi Book Fair 2018
The 24th edition of Delhi Book Fair held from August 25 to September 02,2018 was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of State for Human Resource Development (Higher Education), Govt. of India, Shri Satya Pal Singh, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on August 25, 2018.Book Fairs have helped to instill the habit of reading among people of all age groups. Apart from promoting literacy and reading habit, especially among children and youth, the fair presents books on a wide range of subject.
Over 120 exhibitors displayed books and publications,. The book Fair featured a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, academic books besides children’s literature, classics and other categories of publications including digital innovations. A number of Book Reading Sessions, Authors meet, on-the-spot painting competitions, Kavi Sammelan, Seminars on College Days, Sahitya Manch, Adiwasi Kavi Sammelan, Book Release, Cultural programme were held.
Apart from free entry to the visitors, a number of initiatives have been taken this year. For the first time online booking system has been introduced for these events. ITPO has also roped in the city’s universities and institutions for a better youth connect. College Days were planned , where students from cultural societies of different colleges gave performances.
FIP also organised on the spot Drawing competition for MCD and Delhi Administration Schools during the book fair wherein large no of students participated. Certificate of appreciation was presented to all the participants. All the necessary stationery items were given by FIP and refreshment as well as one book to each participant was also provided.
